The Fort Garry Evangelical Mennonite Church began in 1976 with a small group of Mennonite people who lived in the Fort Garry area and were interested in beginning a church near the university for themselves and others attending the university.
The first actual building was an old storefront at the corner of Pasadena and King's Drive, two short blocks from the University of Manitoba campus. In 1984 a bigger facility was built to replace the old store front one. The latest addition was completed in the fall of 2005. The church has grown to an average Sunday morning attendance of 200-250 people.
